I write this January to welcome you to the New Year! We have new things in store for Time Travel and still plan to carry on doing genealogy tours in the North of Ireland, even with the closure of PRONI during their move to better facilities. It is a huge undertaking that will certainly please us all in the end, but for now, will be a long wait from May to October. We are working on ways to circumvent the event and also, to perhaps, this year, get out of the library for even more hands on time in the field, the graveyards and the local parishes and churches for research. Who knows, perhaps your long lost ancestors will invite us all to tea. It's been known to happen! Last year took us to the North, where we were entertained by locals, invited to the Duke of Abercorn's for lunch and in general, lived the Irish country life. It was a great experience for all and I still get letters from tourers thanking me as well as telling me it was a trip of lifetime. Just what I love to hear and it so much appreciated. It takes "two" or in better words, it takes the tourers themselves to make a great trip. I look forward to seeing some of you again in Ireland and I look forward to meeting each and every new tourer that chooses a Time Travel experience in Ireland.
As I write, and to the picture to your left, I wish, for the North, peace. Once again in talks for the peace process, we pray that the people of the North realize what a great asset they have in their country, in their countryside and their fellow country men. The future is bright and the need to hold ever diligent in the stride for peace is a must. We are counting on you! We have faith in you and we look forward to meeting you in our travels.
As we travel the North and South this year, the themes will be more central, more organized within a few certain counties and more taking place before your journey to prepare and cut down expense and travel in the Dublin area especially. The May tour is still booking and the October tour is almost full. We have about 4-6 seats left for October, so if you're interested, I've started a waitlist. Just go to the contact page and make an inquiry. I look forward to hearing from you. We will be concentrating on Armagh in October. If you have Armagh ancestors and need to be in and around that county for a week to 10 days, please sign up. We'll have a great time!
We are still working on a county series tour. If you're interested in this and have a few spare minutes, please consider the following survey and help us make it exactly what you're looking for in a research travel product. If you are a historian, genealogist that wishes to make a trip to Ireland, or if you already reside in Ireland, please feel free to contact us about your expertise! We will need you for upcoming county tours and I'd love to hear from you! Click HERE for our Survey! The Garden Tour with landscape architect and gardener, Jennifer Bartley will be taking place again in June of 2010! Jennifer's first book, Designing the New Kitchen Garden , focuses on how to have and design a kitchen garden that works in today's world. In times past, the estates of Europe had kitchen gardens that would sustain the estate and it's residents. And along those same lines, we planted war gardens or "Victory Gardens" to sustain us and give us morale in times of war and depression. As our world cycles again, we are brought back to the basics. Journey with us to Ireland and explore the great isle, learn how to design your own garden and get hands on experience at such great estates as Glin Castle, hear lectures on horticulture and see some of the private gardens that Ireland calls her very own. It's a magical place in a magical time of new beginnings. This tour is very limited in number, please sign up early HERE.
